Question:
Watch out ladies!
I have been having my eyebrows waxed at a salon for nearly four years.
My regular waxer has moved on and I had a new therapist the other day. She asked if I generally had waxing or threading done and I replied waxing. While she was doing it I was not very comfortable and felt that insufficient wax was being applied and that sometimes she was pressing too hard with the wooden stick used to apply the wax. I did mention this to her and she apologised. Part way through the process she admitted that she had never actually had waxing done to herself and preferred threading.
By the end of the session the brow area was hurting and I asked her to use some wet cotton wool. Normally the area is red for a few hours, but later that evening I realised that she had actually removed a fine layer of skin, about 1 cm by 3cm under each brow! It has been red, rather sore and a layer of skin has had to grow back which has made it all dry and crinkly.
I went back in and got my money back of course, but I feel that it is always worth checking how skilled your therapist is in a particular technique. Put it this way, I would not like to have dermabrasion done by this therapist!
The ultimate irony is that she was actually the duty manager of the salon!
Ouch.
oh my gawd! :cmeek: what a horrible experience!
I did used to have my eyebrows waxed but like you, I found that it made my skin feel a bit raw, and on top of that my eyebrows didn't look properly 'done' or symmetrical. I actually get mine threaded now as the place where i get it done gives me the best results i've had so far, a really clean and defined finish with a nice arch, but I still have medium looking eyebrows left so it makes my eyes stand out more. I get it done at Debenhams in Oxford Street at a counter called The Powder Lounge and they don't seem to touch my skin when they thread, they just whip it off really quickly and shape them in a about 6 or so minutes! Did this salon give you any treatment/ cream for the burning/ sore skin?
Haven't had any experiences as bad as yours but I find the quality of waxing in my salon is very variable.
how awful  hope your feeling better
