women wear make-up for other women? discuss...
a male friend said that women only wear make up for other women to me today as he reckons that most men wouldnt notice or care anyway:cool:

I would say that I wear make up for me, to make me feel good.
BUT.................If I'm being totally honest, I wear it to look good to men...........well I am single and looking to attract after all :lol:
Surely some men notice the effort that we put in?

I'd say theres an element of truth there.
I like wearing makeup as I like the bring out the best in myself (and cover up spots and dark circles ;)).
I wouldn't say I wear it for men, it's just feel more confident with it!
But then again, I wouldn't go out with the girls without makeup as they're the ones who notice you look like you've been awake the whole week. I also tend to notice people in supermarkets and shops who look a bit blah :o
I'm not even sure that post makes any sense!
I think men don't tend to notice make up unless it's really plastered on. My OH will often remark that someone (usually on TV) has too much caked on, but very often people will say to me that they don't realise I wear make up, because I don't wear much.
I'm sure if they saw me without it though they'd think I was ill!

I don't think they do. But I do think they (at least some of them) notice the overall effect. As do many other women.
And that's why I wear it - because I feel better when the overall effect is better!
However I wouldn't like to speak for the girl who served me in a shop on Saturday. The dark-lipliner-and-pale-lips effect, coupled with seaside rock-plus-silver-sparkle-flakes eyeshadow and spiders where the rest of us have eyelashes. I'm not sure the overall effect was better, you certainly couldn't miss it! But even then I'm probably being unfair. If she thinks she looks good, she probably feels good too...
