Question:
Getting rid of red spot marks
Hi,
I have some red-spot marks (non-pitted) on my back so I decided to get them microdermabrasioned/ glycolic peel-ed off...
I phoned up clinic no 1. to enquire about prices only to be told by the girl that microdermabrasion and glycolic peels won't work on red-pigment ex-spot marks...
Is this true?! Has anyone else had it done and it has worked?! How many sessions did you require?
The girl suggested I go for a type of laser... sotona si (i think that's what she said.... i couldn't hear her very well, and Google hasn't yielded any non-foreign websites for sotona si re: skin lasers). She told me to look it up on google and then look for clinics which had it. She also said that it would only cost ~£75, which I find hard to believe for laser!!
If anyone could help, that would be magnificent, thanks. I'd really like to get this all done over the summer!
Thank you!!!
I've heard lots of stories about people at salons saying that before. Then proceeding to recommend something completely different. No doubt something that they offer and is more expensive. Which it probably would be. If it's £75 for one session and it's something you need a fair few sessions of.
It's rubbish that glycolic peels won't help with spot scars. That's one of their main benefits . Lots of salons do microdermabrasion to help with spot scars as well. I'm not sure how effective that is but know that it is offered as a treatment.
I would say the most effective would be glycolic peels. I would ring around until you can find a reputable salon in your area where you can get those done. Or you could buy the glycolic acid and do it yourself, which would save alot of money. You might prefer to have it done by a professional if you've never had it done before though.
When you say red marks though, how did you describe them to the girl. As she may have assumed they were thread veins. In which case then glycolic peels or microdermabrasion wouldn't help and laser treatments would. Maybe she misunderstood what you meant.
:)
Hi, I told her they were the pigment marks left by spots... and that they were non-pitted...
She did suggest the other laser, but her clinic didn't actually offer it...!! And she didn't suggest a clinic which did offer it either- she just told me to google up the laser (which i subsequently lost the spelling to...) and find a clinic which did offer it.
I did find it odd that she said glycolic acid/ microdermabrasion didn't work though, because all the other clinics seem to bill those two for getting rid of spot-marks.
Thanks for your reply!
Glycolic acid (AHA) definitely does help. I know from experience   . I use Paula's Choice 8% AHA and it fades them :) (not overnight though...so be patient :D )
