MAC Virgin
Question:

MAC Virgin
I was looking at posts about nd recommending MAC cosmetics so i thought i should maybe have a try and see what they would be like on me personally.
However, when i looked at the website there was so much to choose from that i simply didnt know which products would be best for myself. So i was hoping that some of the more experienced MAC users could inform me and recommend some of their products.
So, if this could help people recommend the products most suited to me:
I have combination skin, far too many blackheads :boohoo:, i have dark brown hair, bright blue eyes and a medium (not really tanned) skin tone.
Hope this helps in any way in advising me.
Many thanks, hope someone can help!

I love MAC. IMO, I would go for the more staple items that can really make a difference to your whole routine
I personally recommend (even though I have alot more items than this, these are some of my staples that are in my Holy Grail list):
- MAC Studio Fix in N4 - powder foundation
- MAC Fix + - a great spray that "sets" your makeup
- MAC Strobe cream - a small bit of this mixed with moisturiser gives a dewy finish or a "morning" glow to the skin - has a multitude of uses and lasts ages
- MAC Shroom eyeshadow - for an everyday glow to the eye and can be pumped up for evening
- MAC 618 retractable lip brush - I use this as my eyeliner brush with wet eyeshadow to get a soft finish line
- MAC eyeshadows (my favourites) - Satin Taupe / Mystery / Smut / Club / Steamy / Humid / Blacktied / Beauty Marked
- MAC 4 pan pallettes (bought for £4.50 at the MAC shops, then buy the refill eyeshadows and make up your own quartets. they do sell a 15 pan pallette but it hasn't got a see thru lid. I have loads of these small pallettes with different colour families in them. (4 of them show in photo)
- MAC cream blush - I have Posey and Britwit (for my colouring) but Alot of girls swear by Sweet William
- MAC powder blush - I use Desert Rose and Dollymix religiously (the bottom 2 - left and middle in the photo - showing my 6 pan blush pallette) - these blushes are so sheer in application, great colour payoff and long lasting!
- MAC iridescent powder in Belightful (photo below)
I could go on .........but I don't want to be a bore. BUt I suppose I am a MAC Whore .............
Hope it helps.

Hi
First of all i think you should go to a MAC shop because they are really good and helpful (not in the department stores in an actual MAC shop) I went there and they did a makeover on me and showed me the products that would suit my skin type/complexion hair. They charge £20 to make the appointment but you get that money discounted when you buy products.
Aside from that, I dont know what reccommendations to make but for me the mascara is FAB U LOUS as is the eyelash curler and the foundation liquid and powder looks great on me. :)

I would definitely recommend visiting a store that sells MAC first, just so that you can see all the colours and formulas. The website has gotten better with the colour accuracy of the swatches (but monitors can distort colours, so it may look different anyways), but it is a lot easier to decide if you actually look at them in person first, lol.

depending where you live - I have always had the best experience at MAC Pro, Soho or at Covent Garden.
I agree with above, book a session (but well in advance and try for a weekday if you can - they are less busy, not so packed with tourists, well in london anyway)
How exciting for you - I wish I was discovering MAC all over again - I still get excited when a new colleciton comes out theough - a bit too excited maybe??!!!
