Please recommend me a cleanser for my horrible skin!
Question:

Please recommend me a cleanser for my horrible skin!
I'm at my wits end with my skin! Basically it is red, blotchy and spotty and just looks horrible. Everything I have used does not seem to improve it much a all. I've used mainly Lush products and didn't get much result and I have just finished a bottle of Liz Earles Cleanse and Polish cleanser which also did not produce much result. i was particularly disappointed with the Liz Earle cleanser as it is supposed to be for sensitive skin and I have heard rave reviews about it but its just not doing it for me :( Then i thought maybe I am overloading my skin with products and i should give it a chance to calm down and that i don't need to use a cleanser twice a day,so I have just been sticking to plain water but my face just feels dirty and icky!

Can any heregers give me a recommendation for a gentle cleanser which will be good for my blotchy, easily irritated skin and is also effective against spots?
Thanks :)

Murgatroid, sorry to hear about the problems you've been having lately! :higgies: I think most of us have been where you are, and it is a nightmare trying to find the perfect products for your skin.
I used to use the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, and whilst it literally made my skin glow, it brought me out in a few bumps under my skin - it was way too rich for me.
I have dry and sensitive skin, and I've been using the Simple range for the past month - The moisturising facial wash in the morning and the purifying cleansing lotion and soothing toner in the evening. So far, so good. And I'm back to clear skin.
With any new product, you have to use it for a month at least before you see any results - this is because the skin cells renew every 28 days.
You should exfoliate at least once a week and also use a mask once a week too.
Perhaps try the Simple range - it's suitable for sensitive skin, and is 100% perfume and colour free. And it's on 3 for 2 in Boots at the moment.
I hope some of this helps you, and sorry for the long dissertation! :)

I recommend Dermalogica products. If you can, ask for advice about your skin type. Mine is combination and sensitive, and also spot-prone (nice, eh?!) and I swear by the Special Cleansing Gel. The Microfoliant has also been brilliant at clearing spots and scarring. The Clearing Booster is a great treatment for individual spots.
The range is not cheap, though, so maybe get hold of some samples before splashing out. If they work for you, buy through eBay to save money.

I second the Dermalogica range as well! I've been a faithful user for close to 9 years now and have been pretty pleased with the results.
Having said that, Simple is also a great range without breaking the bank. The other one I swear by is a cleanser by Cetaphil. It's gentle enough for my skin and yet good enough to remove all traces of makeup.
I hope you get your skin sorted out

if spots are a real big problem for you, i think going to the docotors for treatment is the best thing, as they perscribe tablets that solve the problem fromt he inside out, so then your sensitive skin wont suffer.
For your sensitive skin i recomend simple as it is very gentle yet cleanse you pores really well!
I know how frustrating it is when you have bad skin days, but youl soon find a rageme thats right for you! xx
