Question:
Anyone else gone through misery because of their hair, waiting for it to grow?
I'm posting this here as hair forum is slow so hope you don't mind :)
This might sound a bit petty but its really getting me down. I have had longish hair for years and now its chin length thanks to a hairdresser who went mad when I asked her just to take an inch off the bottom!
I have no desire to have my hair right down my back like it used to be but it has been just above my shoulders for years now and I have always been happy with that. Despite people telling me it looks thicker at chin length and in some ways better I still can't get used to it.
You know how it is when you are happy with your hair and you don't even notice it growing and then you just go for a trim when the ends look a bit split or your fringe is in your eyes, but then suddenly its shorter than you want it so then you are willing time to pass so as it will grow again? I just want another two inches in length and then I will be happy but I know that will take about three months and I am wishing the time away, I just feel so miserable. I can at least tie my hair back so then the length isn't as noticeable and at least I don't have layers to grow out which would take longer so I am trying to console myself but I can't help but reach up for my hair when I wake up in a morning and feel all down because it feels shorter than I am used to.
I know I will still need to have trims while I am waiting for it to grow but I am still wary of having scissors anywhere near it. My old hairdresser never used to take too much off my hair, she was fab but she sold up at the beginning of the year and now I am in this position.
Has anyone else been through feeling this down over their hair and how do you cope? It was never an issue until about a month ago when I went for that 'trim'.
Oh no Puss !!!! It absolutely infuriates me when this happens... did you complain? That's out of order if she cut more than you explicitly asked for
I have felt likie that before, got it cut shorter than I wanted, and hated having to wait for it to grow back.
Actually, I had mine cut really short at the end of march, but I'm already bored with it, and wish it was at least mid length so it could be tied back.
I always end up being fed up of it just as it's getting quite long, have it cut short, and then fed up of waiting for it to grow again, and so the cycle continues
Try to experiment with different looks so that you can at least enjoy it whilst it's growing out. Maybe get some pretty clips or headbands? how about putting some colour through it?
Hope that helps, and try not to get too down, it will grow back eventually  xxx
If its any consolation, i think most of us have been in your position at some point in our lives. My hair is probably the longest its ever been and to be honest i am not sure i like it this long but i aint got the courage to chop it off.
My daughter had a 'trim' a couple of months ago, and the girl who trimmed it chopped about 2" off her waist length blonde hair. Her hair is so long, you cant really tell the difference but she keeps asking me if i think its grown back yet.:(

Ohh, bless her! :(
I had my hair cut for my cousins wedding in December. I fancied a complete new look but didnt get what I'd asked for. The hairdresser cut it above shoulder length (as I wanted) but rather than just chopping some layers in the front as I'd asked he started hacking into it all over the place. The shortest layers were about 2 inches long. :( I've only just been able to tie it up the last couple of weeks. I quite like the length it is at the moment, it suits me but I'm definitely a long haired girl at heart and I've still got at least another six inches to go before its back to the length it was before.
