Any skin care professional about?
Question:

Any skin care professional about?
  Hello there
I'm getting more and more concerned about sun damage to my face, and I'm sure 2 weeks on holiday isnt going to help! However, I usally wear factor 30 here in UK, so wondering if I should use a block on holiday.. ? I go quick freckly and patchy on my face, plus I have some spot scars, so which factor is considered a 'block'?
Any help, much appreciated. :heyhey:

Hmm I think block is just a marketing term as no sunscreen can completely screen out the sun.
I would definately go for a higher factor on holiday as the sun is going to be much stronger.
You need to look for a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects you from both UVA and UVB. Boots Soltan are meant to be pretty good. They have a 4 star rating I think for UVA protection. Spf is only a measure of UVB.
UVA causes ageing and is the most damaging
UVB causes sunburn
Which facial sunscreen you choose depends on your skin type.
If you're really concerned about sun damage I would definately get a hat. I've even been thinking about getting a parasol but don't think I could go through with it

Im quite fair skinned & in the summer I use a factor 50 on my face, your facial skin is much more delicate then the rest & therefore far more sucseptible to damage. I'd definitely go for a high factor or the highest factor you cant get & wear a hat if your fair or going somewhere really hot :)

soltan do facial sun protection 'anti-ageing' products too. i think they are 15, 30 and 50+. no7 also do them in 15, 25 and 50+ i believe. i dont know how similar they are but i use to the no7 one in summer normally (although its just been re-formulated, i think) and the 50+ if i go abroad, because im absolutely terrified of getting leathery skin like my nan!
there is no such thing as a sun 'block' because, as already mentioned, no product can completely block out the sun (except for that thing mr burns made in an episode of the simpsons, but i digress.)
hope that helped a bit.

Thanks everyone.. I will look at Soltan and No7 tomorrow. I looked at a Clarins one today, Factor 40.. was nice and thin, but small bottle and I guess a bit dearer.
