Question:
Congested Skin
Hi there  I was wondering if anyone could help or recommend something that would help my congested skin.It is really bad at the moment it is so bumpy and horrible.I havent been wearing make up and have been drinking loads of water.
I'd be grateful of any help/advice.
BTW, I have combination skin.Cheers :D
Steaming helps, get a bowl of very hot water and put your face over it (make sure its not burning your skin, be at least 10" from the water) with a towel over and sweat, sweat, sweat!!
This is great for clearing the pores, you can also add a couple of drops of tea tree oil if you are feeling particularly congested, after this you can 'gently' squeeze out any spots/blackheads and finish with a nice dollop of sudocreme to heal the area.
If squeezing make sure your finger ends are covered in toilet roll to prevent spreading infection.
Loads of water is good, and so is halibut liver oil (holland and barratt) but that takes a good few weeks to get into the system.
Hope this helps x
Cheers hun I will give that a try :D .I have some tea tree oil so I will add to the water. It just seems bad at the moment,it's driving me mad lol.
for congested skin i can't recommend paula's choice 2% bha enough!
it's 2% salicylic acid and come sin gel, lotion or liquid form. i have combination/oily skin and i use the liquid. it's great at keeping pores clean and exfoliated.
i suffered bumpy skin when i started using liz earles cleanse and polish that was too rich for my skin and left it really congested.
paula's choice 2% bha really did an ace job at clearing up the congestion and you're left with clean, smooth skin!
you can get it here:

also, neutrogena visibly clear blackhead eliminating scrub is also great at keeping pores clear.
hth :)
G_G's right, steaming will help open your pores but I would use a good face mask afterwards to make sure all the 'gunk' gets sucked out ;) I really recommend Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask which is aimed at congested skin although I'd say it would suit all skin types as it's not drying like most face masks for oily/congested skin are. It's quite expensive if you buy it at full-price but I got mine on Ebay quite cheap so if you'd like to try it then definitely get it there :) Honestly, it's the best face mask I've ever used & the results are instant - my skin always looks extremely clean, soothed & glowing after I use it :great:
