Question:
skin care help - please!
Hello beauty baggers
I've not posted in here before, so I hope I don't tread on anyone's toes or anything!
I'm hoping you'll be able to help me - I've started thinking that I need some form of evening out/coverage to make the best of my (generally quite good) skin, and am looking for recommendations.
To give you some background: I wear minimal make-up - mascara most days and that's pretty much it. I use face wash and moisturise every day and exfoliate a couple of times a week. I can't stand feeling like products are clogging up my skin which pretty much rules out foundation/powder products, certainly any I've tried so far. I bought some Nivea tinted moisturiser which I tried this morning and had to wash straight off again - it made me look like a tangerine
I think I was expecting a much lighter tint - literally a fraction of what's in the tube - and the thought of wearing anything that would come off/make a mark if I lightly swept a tissue across my face isn't working for me at all.
Any ideas what kind of thing I could try, or should I just give up and carry on with my naked skin? Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. I know I'm probably being difficult, but that's me I'm afraid ;)
(also - anyone know about Boots return conditions - could I try and take the moisturiser back?)
Hey Nile. Welcome to beauty
I dont wear much make up everyday either, usually just if im going out at night, so as for make up i cant really advise you the thing i swear by though is Dove Summer Glow (fair to normal skin) the darker one looks slightly orangey, it does give a light colour and takes away the pale, pasty look.
Ps. I think they are selling it BOGOF in Sainsburys just now.
Hi LuckyB
Thanks for your reply. I should probably have phrased my post better - I actually meant 'evening out' as in balancing the skin tone rather than going out... :o
I have light skin, not overly pale, but a tendency to get quite ruddy patches on my cheeks/in towards my nose... and this is what I'm looking to even out. I was considering getting one of those slightly self-tanning ones... perhaps that's the road to go down, but I don't know if it'll have the effect I'm after?
Hi, welcome to beauty:wave:
I would recommend a tinted moisturiser, just not a nivea one! Lots of people have made bad comments about nivea ones so I would steer clear!
No. 7 do a soft and sheer tinted moisturiser which is quite popular. If you only want to spend a couple of pounds, boots natural collection also does one. If you're willing to spend a bit more then clinique almost makeup is good, I'm using that at the minute. My favourite is Prescriptives traceless skin responsive tint. It gives a perfect skin look without looking like you're wearing make up, I love it!
I've got very very pale skin and I can find tinted moisturisers that don't look orange on me so there will be one out there for you! I think the trick is to just use a tiny bit and to smooth it in, then it shouldn't come off onto a tissue.
Avon do a tinted moisturiser which I am really impressed with - is on offer at the mo for £4 instead of £8 I think! It is a white cream with tiny spheres of colour that burst when you rub it in so it gives just a hint of colour and a nice glow, great for the summer!!
