Question:
Please help my nails
For some reason the nails of the middle and forefinger on my right hand have fallen apart. They've peeled to halfway down the nail - and I've no idea why, the others are fine :cmdunno:
I'm doing the right things, almond oil and OPI etc to try to sort it out, but they're so thin I need something to put over the ends to protect and support them till they grow out.
I really don't want to go down the full gel/acrylic route, but has anyone tried the DIY gel & acrylic stuff you can get (Nailene, Sally Hansen type) just to use on the two tips? Or any other ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm not sure what you could do other than what you already are doing but definitely don't get gel or acrylic nails put on - this will only make them weaker.
You could wear a bandage over them for a few days???
I have long nails, but both of my thumbnails split right down the middle. To keep them long I put a silk bandage over it & reinforce it with plenty of nail glue. Allow it to dry fully & then you can buff it to a barely there look & then it will just grow out with your nail, until the stronger part gets to the top.
I get my nail bandage from a beauty suppliers but I've had it for years. If you have a Sally Health & Beauty nearby, I think they sell the silk nail bandage.
sea kelp makes nails really strong - as long as u dont have a thyroid problem you should be fine with it - i take 5 a day and my nails are pretty much unbreakable!
Thanks all. I'm really wary about the falsies, even if it's only on the bit that's already wrecked it could rip and get even worse. There is a Sally in town, so I'll have a look tomorrow. I must admit I hadn't thought beyond Boots!
Manc-Lass, sea kelp makes my hair and nails grow really well. Unfortunately it has the same effect on my spots :(
