Why is mineral powder foundation a secret?
Question:

Why is mineral powder foundation a secret?
Is it me, or is there a beauty industry conspiracy going on?
My biggest ever beauty problem was finding the right foundation for my skin type and colour - but I solved it when I stumbled across a QVC-style infomercial on TV. I think it was a USA product called Sheercover.
The idea looked good, and the coverage it seemed to give looked great. I just googled around UK sites looking for the equivalent and found it - a loose, mineral powder foundation which I have been using for two years now.
I buy it online from a company called Barefacedbeauty.co.uk, but I assume there are similar ones out there.
It's so good that I expected lots of coverage about this 'new' type of foundation in beauty magazines etc, but I never see anyone talk about it? Why not? It's cheap (about £14 for a big pot), it works, it comes in lots of shades, it looks great and it doesn't clog my pores or give me spots. Maybe it's too cheap and too good - it's a threat to the big-spending cosmetic companies that want us to shell out £30 for a bottle of gloop...
Has anyone else come across this sort of foundation?

 Yeah, that's what i was wondering.
I'm not currently using mineral foundation as there are no stockists near me, and i don't want to buy online incase i get the wrong shade, but i have used a mineral eyeshadow that was amazing.
I know lots of baggers on here rave about it, but in magazines etc, there isnt much talk about it. In america, even Revlon, L'oreal and cheap brands do them, so maybe it will become a big deal soon?

Hi,
Like a number of the girls on this site I use Lily Lolo Mineral foundation and find it brilliant. After being conned over the years by the advertising for new foundations I've spend a bloody fortune on just about all of the big brands out there. I definitely think it's all down to the big name brands (eg Estee Lauder which owns most of the household cosmetic brands now I believe) not wanting the consumer to know about these cheaper and superior products.

I agree - it's a scam!
www.lilylolo.co.uk is the website I use to buy mine. It's £12 for a small tub (about 6cmin diameter) but I've had mine for ages, and hardly seem to have made a dent in the amount powder!
They also do eyeshadows, blushers, oil absorbing powder and highlighter powder, along with a lovely (if expensive) selection of brushes.
I use mine with the new brush from Bourjois that's come out - a fraction of the price and does the job just as well.
But the bestest bestest bestest thing about Lily Lolo is that they do teeny sample pots for 99p, so you can order several shades to find the best for you. I ordered three at first, and eventually settled on Blondie - but you could mix two together to create your ideal mix.
P&P is about a quid for lighter stuff, and £1.75 as you get heavier...
So there's no reason not to try it! I have been searching since I was 15- that's ten long years of hard work! - to find my Holy Grail foundation, and the relief now to be able to sit back and not worry about it any more.
I must say I was ever so sceptical when I first saw the tub. "That? That's a powder - that'll never cover up all my blemishes". How wrong can I be?!
It does everything I ask from a foundation - my skin really genuinely looks flawless, it covers everything (a mate of mine has problem skin and her skin looks flawless).
Just try it, all you non-believers out there! You've got nothing to lose! The cheap Lily Lolo samples will save you making the wrong colour choice, go for it!
I  this stuff, I really do.

Mouse has summed it all up! :great: I searched for years to find the perfect foundation & spent so much money on ones that didn't work. :head: I never thought mineral foundation would work for me as I couldn't believe that a powder (I know it's crushed minerals but it still looks like a loose powder ;)) could give me flawless skin. I use Lily Lolo too & was hooked from the moment I first tried it. I heard someone mention mineral foundation on here & decided to google it to find more about it & came across Lily Lolo's site. I thought it was great that they did samples for 99p each as finding the right shade is the hardest thing when buying a new foundation.
I thought it'd be crap as I'd never heard it mentioned before so was really surprised when I found out how good it was. I always rec it on here as I don't think it's mentioned enough in the beauty industry.
