Question:
Best way to store foundation?
Hi this is my first post so be gentle!
My favourite foundation, L'Oreal Translucide has been discontinued :boohoo:
I have however found a seller on ebay who has stock so I've bought 5 bottles (which should last me the best part of 2 years) but I don't know whether its best to store them in the fridge/at room temp/in the dark etc etc for the maximum shelf life.
Any suggestions welcome :)
Hmmm.. never really considered that before. I guess most cosmetics have some kind of shelf life, but you should be ok to store them in a drawer (i.e. in the dark) at room temperature for as long as you want. I think air drying the products out is the worst thing that can happen, so as long as you only open them when you want to start using them, they should last.
I've been using the same Elizabeth Arden foundation for five years now  because I don't need to use very much at all, and it's just lasted and lasted!
not in the fridge!
cool, dark place - away from heat and light sources - a wardrobe or say your underwear drawer is the best place!
also the formula is only tested to be stable for maximum 36months opened and 12 months open so be careful!
Thanks for the replies, Manc-Lass thats excellent info :)
Apologies for gatecrashing this thread but I have a related question.
I recently switched from using Clinique Superbalanced foundation which I'd used for about 3 or 4 years, to Max Factor Colour Adapt.
When I first bought the colour adapt about a month ago it came out of the bottle in a sort of light mousselike consistensy which covered well & evened out my skin tone, I loved it.
However, over time its turned runny. I usually put a blob on the back of my hand & use my fingers to apply and noticed this morning that it was running accross my hand!! :cmeek:
I usually just leave the bottle on my desk which is next to my window, could this have something to do with it?? Any advice on storage & how to make it moussy again?? I had thought about putting it in the fridge for a few hours but just read earlier in this thread that i shouldn't do that.
Much Love
