Question:
Mac foundation. I'm confused.
I have pale skin that is quite red in places. I want to tone down the redness a bit as it is quite uneven.
Do I choose NC or NW colours?
I read the advice on the web page but I'm still confused.
I want more ivory than orangey!
This confuses me too! But I think if you have rosiness/pink undertones you should be NW. It's best to get a SA to find the right colour for you and make sure you're happy with it before you buy though.

I've got pink toned skin and suit NW colours best. MAC are a law unto themselves on their shades.
The makeup is meant to balance/tone down your own skintones.
So yeah, if you have cool skin go for W (warm)
and C (cool) if you have a warm skintone
The reason it gets confusing is I think some people think C and W are in relation to the user's skintone. So if you're cool you should go for NC etc. It's refering to the tones in the makeup though. So you should go for the opposite of your skintone.
I think that's how it works, haven't replaced my mac powder in ages though. As far as I remember that's right though. :)
What everyone else has said. I would say you're a NW.
