Water
Question:

Water
Now I am aware that this may sound strange but is it possible for you to react to water?
I have very very dry skin, it is constantly peeling at the moment and I got some samples of a cleanser that you wipe off with cotton wool rather than rinse off.
I realy liked that and my skin was more hydrated. I went back to using my usual cleanser and my skin is very dry again. To make sure it wasn't just my cleanser I used a different cleanser and very dry skin again. It is so much worse when I use water but why is this?
Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you to those who replied to my hand cream thread, my computer crashed when I was trying to thank you and couldn't find it after that, sorry :o
Thank you x

Hi
i get the same problem at this time of year when my skin is drier. I think it may be due to the fact that wipe off cleansers are more likely to be oil based to remove impurities and therfore are quite hydrating and soothing.
I prefer to use wipe off cleanser most of the time, and switch to Dove cream bar when it gets very hot when my skin is oilier. I've been told (by a facialist) that wash off cleansers have detergents in them to disperse the oils from skin and makeup and therefore dry out skin that is dry already, causing tight, flaky skin.
Hope this helps!:)

Not exactly the same problem, but my skin gets rough when I go and visit mum in law in another city :( The city I live is near to the sea and very rocky, but my MIL's town is inland and has no big water resourse around, so possibly the difference of the (for example) minerals in water or something like that can be the reason. Maybe your skin doesn't like the water in your region?
Or possibly your cleanser is too strong, I suppose...which type of cleanser do you use?

Sometimes my skin on my body gets all blotchy and itchy after washing, especially if I have been staying at my Mum and Dads for a while then go to my OH's and vice versa.

Thankyou, its good to know that others have the same problem as I just thought that it was so strange.
Reddychelsea, I use a Chanel cleanser and the wipe off one was a sample from them. I was so pleased when I found this as it suited me and actually cleared my skin without any problems.
If you think you could suggest something please feel free, but products I can't use are:
clinique, Johnsons, loreal, clean and clear, neutrogena,Simple, dove, Garnier,
olay... uum I think thats it for now
