Question:
Not having fun with my Mac 187 brush
I've just bought one of these Mac stippling brushes and I was so optimistic but it doesn't seem to be good at transferring powder or bronzer and then I tried it with cream blush and the results weren't good either.
Is there a certain knack for using it? I don't know what else to try to apply with it, it just doesn't seem to be getting the stuff onto my face well.
I have the Mac contour brush and it is beyond brilliant and I adore it so I have no idea why i'm not getting on with this one :cmdunno:
I use it for powder and cream blush.
Powder wise i just use it like a normal blush, no stippling action and it applies it perfectly :) I let the bristles fan out as i sweep up my cheekbone.
Cream wise i stipple and then smooth up wards like i would with cream blush.
The brush is fab for applying foundation too :throb: I need another one actually as i use it for both blush and foundation.
Have you tried going to www.maccosmetics.com and clicking on 'livechat' you can type live to a MAC artist (like msn) and they may be able to help you with application techniques? They're online now too as i used them this time a couple of days ago :)
Thanks Cat i'll try the Livechat :)
My main gripe with it is that I am finding it really hard to get the powder or whatever onto the brush.
I am using it like a normal brush but i'm not getting very good results. When I try and apply it to my face most of the make up stays on the brush. It is very frustrating
Hi Holsblue,
I think the 187 is designed to only pick up a small amount of powder so the finish looks subtle and flawless. Its used to achieve that airbrushed finish. I still havent figured out how to use it for cream products but I find it applies powder products evenly.
