Spray tans?
Question:

Spray tans?
I am pretty pale, and although I have recently grown to accept this and try to make the most of it, I would still like to have more of a glow.
I don't want to look really brown as this just isn't me, but look less pink! I've used Garnier and Johnsons moisterising fake tans, which I don't mind, but I don't really want to continue using them, because I guess I can't be bothered applying them myself and the results are never amazing. So I was thinking about getting a spray tan done in a salon and hoping this would look better and last a bit longer, but I have no idea how these work and have a few questions!
Do you get it done all over (as in do you keep your underwear on!)
Do they have different colour strengths (as I just want a little boost to look less ill rather then becoming brown!)
How long do they last (as long (or rather short) as the at home ones?)
Do they come off a bit in the shower?
How much does it cost in general?
Do they do your face?
Thanks if you can give me any advice!

I love spray tans - theres nothing like getting someone else to do it for you!

In answer to your questions - yes you get it done all over, even on your face if you like - all you need to wear is a pair of old knickers (I recommend a thong). They will give you a net for your hair. Some places offer a half body (i.e. waist up) or a full body. It all depends on where your going/what you want. I always get my face done too - it wears off very well here too. It's a little embarassing at first but you get used to it.

If you want it fairly natural then they just use less of the spray - I've never known it to come in different shades but I could be wrong.

They always seem to say they can last up to week but I have never found this - a good four days max is the best I've ever gotten. However if you moisturise as much as possible, say twice a day then this definitely helps to prolong it and it also helps it fade better (i.e. it will be less patchy as it wears off. You could also top it up with a gradual tanner.

After having one done you should wait at least 12 hours before showering - and a lot of it will come off in this shower. You will look incredibly dark before the shower but afterwards you will have a natural glow. It's best not to scrub yourself too much during this first shower either. I usually get one at 6/7 in the evening and shower the next morning.

I live in Ireland and pay €40 for a full body - its pricey these days so I get them mainly for special occasions, weddings etc.

Let us know how you get on! :)

I had one of these done last August for around £30 (A St Tropez one).
I would have one done again but prob not a St Tropez one. An hour after I'd had it done I looked sooo brown. I couldn't stop looking at myself in the mirror! My face looked flawless and didn't have to wear any make-up. I had it done at around 2pm. The next morning I had a shower and was really disappointed because most of it washed off and I only looked slightly darker than what I usually do. I was hopeing to keep more of the colour.
I had my full body and face sprayed. I had to take everything off bar my thong which was really :o The lady was prob in her 50's and was lovely. I wouldn't have wanted to do it if it was one of these really young girls as I would have felt too self consious and thought that they would have been laughing about me to the other girls - stupid I know.
I would imagine if you didn't want to look as brown, you could just ask them to use less? I didn't think it came in different shades either.
It's nice to get it done for speacial occasions, but on a regular basis, I personally, would find it too expensive to maintain. Maybe if you had 1 a month and used a St Tropez tan at home inbetween.
As fashionaddict78 says, let us know what you decide. :D

Hello,
I have had loads of spray tans done, I love them.
I've had St Tropez and Su-do tan which is a little lighter than St Tropez but wears off better.
Same procedure as the girls above have said.
I absolutely love spray tans and they just make you feel gorgeous, give it a go!

I go to automatic booths during the summer. You just follow the instructions of the nice lady that speaks to you lol!!
To be honest I'm quite dark anayway so these look ok on me, but I can imagine that trhey would be very vibrant for a day or two if you were pale skinned. If you follow the instructions properly (to put moisturiser around ankles, elbows hairline etc) results are usually good. Like anything though, practice, makes perfect. I like the booths though as you get an all over tan without having to stand in front of anyone in the nude:)
