moisturiser clogging pores?
Question:

moisturiser clogging pores?
  hello,
i have a query which im hoping one of you can help me with!
due to the cold weather i have been getting dry skin on my face so i bought nivea soft intensive moisturisng cream for face body and hands and im pretty much putting it all over because its really good at helping.
however, im a bit worried about putting it on my face incase it blocks my pores, gives me spots etc.
does anyone know if this would do this? or what chemical or ingredient clogs your pores?
most moisturisers say non-comedgenic (sp?) on it but this one doesnt! so im a bit unsure
if anyone could help me it would be great! :D

Hi Emily,
If it works for you then I think you should keep using it, i think you would notice quite quickly if it was blocking your pores, you'd get little bumps under your skin, not necessarily spots.
I always tend to get a separate face moisturiser though, I really like the olay ones, and they usually say they're non comedogenic. I would have thought moisturisers for sensitive skin are the least likely to block pores etc, and of course oil free ones.

thanks bunnekins! :D
i think i'll just keep using it for a while longer and if i think my skin is getting weird (getting bumps, more spots) then i'll stop using it!
sorry but what chemical thingy-me-bob has oil in it?
in the ingredients it doesnt say anythign about oil!
im just so consicous about getting more spots than i actualy already have!

I think most moisturisers have oil in them unless they state that they're oil free. Paraffinum liquidum, petrolatum, lanolin and things like that are all oils.
If your face is really dry, maybe you could try a more moisturising face wash and use an oil free moisturiser? It doesn't matter if there are oils in the wash as this all gets rinsed off anyway. The moisturiser on the other hand stays on your skin, and is absorbed by your skin.

If I react to a moisturiser then it usually shows within 2-3 days, little spots under the surface of my skin usually.
If it's working for you then like bunnekins says, stick with it, but if you want to switch to oil-free you can get some nice gel creme formulas that feel lovely on the skin :)
