Question:
help me with my face!
Can someone help me please and tell me what i can do to improve the look of my skin.
I can't make my mind up as to whether it's oily or dry. i have read patches and it never seems to look even.
I use make up remover wipes to remove eye make up and then use coalface. I use a No7 cleanser and then their night cream.
For the mornings i use the st Ives apricot scrub, then put on Lancomes Sensation Totale and Olay's beauty fluid.
Am i using too much?
My skin can get really dry around my nose (on top) and at the sides (where it meets my cheeks) this can get quite oily.
I'm off to boots this lunch so i need your help and wisdom please girls!
Hi Jusmee,
I think you might be using too many products, especially for cleansing, you should only have to use one cleansing product plus a toner (maybe a separate eye makeup remover). Using too many products will dry your skin out and it will start to produce excess oil to compensate.
My skin used to be very confused, I used a cleanser for spot prone skin (clean&clear), thinking that it was oily. I have since worked out that my skin was too dry (hence the oiliness) so i started to use a cleansing milk for dry skin which removes makeup and cleanses my skin. My skin has never looked better! No more shiny noses, the oil has gone completely. :yay:
It does sound like you're using a lot of different products & by the sounds of it your skin is combination - oily in some areas but dry in others.
Whenever I use Coalface (I alternate this with AOBS) it seems to take all my makeup off but then I don't wear heavy makep anyway. If you find that Coalface removes all your makeup then why not try skipping the No7 cleanser & just use the night cream after washing at night?
I find that I don't need to wash my face in the morning so I usually just use a toner (Lush Tea Tree Water) or just splash my face with water. If you need to use a scrub try only using it a few times a week as the red patches you described sound as though your skin is a bit sensitive. You might be over-cleansing your skin so try using the least amount of products possible. My skin is always in better condition when I keep my regime simple.
Hope this helps. :)

Right so i should use either my coalface or my No7 cleanser? What toner would you recommend, i tried the botanics one but it made my face sting and to be honest haven't used one since :o
I'm not sure i understand what a toner is for?
Try and use a Toner that is for sensitive skin, i use the Simple one as its really gentle, the idea of a toner is that it removes any last trace of your cleanser / makeup ect you may have missed, it should also close your pore's makeing it ready for your moisteriser, but i agree with the others, you are using to much cleaning products which is sending your skin into panic mode, hence the oily/dry patches,
you may find the coalface is a bit to stong for your skin also, i tried it and after a week started to get dry patches ( i have oily skin )
good luck !
