are epilators insanity?
Question:

are epilators insanity?
have recently got fed up of shaving, and can't afford (or be bothered to be honest) to go in for waxing. are epilators really, really painful and only for those with nerves of steel, or are they a good investment?

Answers:

hmm well I personally am too chicken to use it as I'm afraid of how painful it would be!
However I think lots of baggers use it and said over time, it doesn't hurt as much.

I used one when i was 16, never again:eek:
It's basically like lots of tweezers yanking out your hairs, oh the pain:eek:
They may have improved from 5 years ago though.

It isn't the pain that is a problem with them, at least not IMO (although I really recommend you do not EVER put one near your face!!), it's more that you never get an entirely smooth result with them as some hairs are too short to epilate. And if the hairs are too long when you epilate, they may snap and will not be fully pulled out.
The advantage of waxing is you get that lovely softness of your skin afterwards. Plenty of people get on with epilators, though, so I think it's just a case of seeing what works for you. Don't let the pain bit put you off, it's just a bit of a twinge! They are also good if you home wax, actually, as you can use it to catch the strays.

I bought one last year and took it back as it was excruciating. Boots offer a 30 day back money guarentee on electricals if you aren't happy, and many epliators have a 30 day 'pain free' period, so it is worth looking at if you aren't sure.
