Question:
Toner??
Hi!
After watching too many episodes of 10 years younger I decided that it was time to start getting a proper face care routine so I bought some toner. Always been a wash and moisturise type of girl.
I bought the Garnier Naturals range i.e. the green bottle. But I don’t understand.
What is the actual point of Toner? And since I’ve started using it I have had terrible break outs!!! Any advice?
Not everyone uses a toner but it's used to remove any excess dirt & oil from your face after cleansing. I use it after washing my face at night & then in the morning to refresh my face before I put on my makeup. I have used lots of different toners & all of them have contained alcohol & have been too harsh for my skin - causing more breakouts, like you mentioned you were having. Does this Garnier one contain alcohol?
If it does I would not recommend using it & suggest you think about getting a natural toner from Lush. They do not contain alcohol & feel very gentle on the skin. My face always feels so soft & smooth after using mine, I ues the Tea Tree Water one which is good for people with spots. You can either spray them directly on your face or spray a little bit on to cotton wool.:)
Here are the Lush toners. Just click on them for more information. :)

I use the toner to close up my pores after the cleansing. I find that my skin is less prone to drying up if I pat some toner on. I'm using Dermalogica's Multi Active Toner. It's quite pricey but it's worth it. One large bottle can last me up to a year (or more) with twice a day usage :)
sorry to hi jack!! But can anyone recommend a good toner?? I'm using Clinique No.2 but i just fancy a change!! :)
Sparklepants, the toner I mentioned before (Multi Active, dermalogica) is very gentle. No fragrance and no alcohol. Have been using it for years :)
