Question:
Any Beauty Therapists out there?
My daughter has applied to do Beauty Therapy course at college (hopefully up to HND level) and I was just wondering if there were any BT's on here that could give her any tips or advice (she has to go for an interview in March) on what to expect at either the interview or about the job itself.
She does have a basic knowledge of what to expect but just wondering if anyone else can give any advice.

It's pretty much like any other job interview. The following are really important though:
1. Presentation. IMMACULATELY clean hair, shoes and clothing. Neat, short nails.
2. Friendly personality. Not faking a big smile but just being herself.
3. Convey that she is eager to learn and has good attention to detail.
4. Somehow try to show commitment to the position, ie don't go "Oh I've applied a few other places too." They don't need to know that. If there's one type of trainee/employee they don't want, it's someone who's going to run off at a moments notice.
In a nutshell, sit up straight, look nice, pay attention to what's being said and show an interest (e.g. find out the brand of skincare they use beforehand and ask about it.)

She's really keen to get on this course and she is good with other people and extremely clean (see my electicity bill for the shower). That's a good idea about the question too, she's busy thinking of what other questions to ask too because they like you to ask questions don't they, shows you're interested.
