Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner
Question:

Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner
I popped into John Lewis today & decided to get Bobbi Brown's Longwear Gel Eyeliner which I had been wanting to get for ages but didn't know anywhere that stocked it. Well I'd been looking on the website a few days ago looking at the colours & wanted 'Expresso Ink' which is a very dark brown, almost black. I thought this would be a better colour to get than black as the black looked very dark & I thought it would be too harsh. Anyway when I got to John Lewis I forgot the name of the colour & just asked the SA at the counter if they had a dark brown/black colour. She said they had & put a bit on her hand for me. Well it looked ok to me so I decided to get it thinking it was the same one I had seen on the website. However, when I got home I opened up the pot & it looked a light brown colour & on the bottom it said 'Sepia Ink' which I knew definitely wasn't the colour I wanted. I decided to try a tiny little bit to see if it looked ok but it's way too light & doesn't even make me look as though I'm wearing eyeliner at all. I'm really annoyed as I thought the SA would've picked the right shade. I wasn't able to see any of the colours available as they were up high & I'm in a wheelchair so couldn't really see anything.
Do you think John Lewis would exchange it for the darker brown if I took it back or aren't you allowed to return makeup? I have only lightly dipped the brush into the pot & just at the side where you can't even see it. I know it's a bit cheeky but I spent £13.50 on it as well as the special eyeliner brush to go with it which was £17 & I don't see the point of keeping it if I'm not going to use it.
Would be grateful for anyone's help. :)

Ring up the counter at john lewis, if they wont exchange, email bobbi brown's website to ask for their customer service address in the UK and complain to them. I did this when I couldnt get the top of an eyeliner, and they didnt even ask me to return the product to them, they just sent out a new one,

Good news!!! I rang John Lewis today & asked if I could exchange it for the right colour & they agreed! I explained that I don't get to go out much due to illness so it was difficult for me to get to the store & they said it could all be done in the post! :D
