Expensive vs Cheap Mascara
Question:

Expensive vs Cheap Mascara
  Hi there,
Just wondering if there is much difference between expensive and cheaper mascaras?! I read somewhere once that it is not worth buying expensive mascaras as they have such a short shelf life but then I find that cheaper mascaras can be so hit and miss?
What does everyone else think? :)

I find there is a real difference but yes it is definitely annoying that all mascaras - cheap or expensive- dry out after about 3 months for me.
I'm a Lancome girl and it's Defincils for me.
If I absolutely had to scrimp then it would be Maybelline Great Lash but it does smell a bit chemical...

I think it very much depends on the individual mascara.
I've tried YSL and found it to be variable. But then again I've tried Dior Show and absolutely fantastic.
Likeiwse, I've tried Great Lash and hated it, yet was very pleased with the results that 17s Great Curl gave me.
But, on the whole the more expensive mascaras do tend to be of a better quality.

Answers:

I can never tell the difference between cheap and expensive mascaras, so it's the one product that I usually buy a cheap version of. However, this is probably because I have naturally very long and thick lashes, so I only need mascara to add a bit of colour. I've never had a mascara dry out on me; I just replace mascara when I think I've had it for too long.

I think it's very personal. I find YSL very good but I also love some of the Rimmel ones and Max Factor Masterpiece. It depends on your lashes - some of the ones people rave about I hate!

If I had to chose I would rather buy one cheapie once a month than one expensive one every six months because I like them fresh and wet not dry and clumpy.
