Question:
cost of braces
Hi People,
I have got a problem with my teeth, they are slightly out specailly the top ones and i have a slight gap in the middle teeth, i think having braces put on would be a good idea.
I am 29 years old so do you think having braces will make a difference and how long do you think it will take??
and how much is it normally to have braces put on??
thanks
You might want to look at thread.
You'd really need to see an orthodonist to find out how long it will take - that will also determine the cost.
I'm wearing braces right now (in my 30s) and only have to keep them on about 6 months (yay - they'll be off within 2 months!) but I wore them when I was younger and am just having a bit of tweaking done. I didn't wear my retainer as directed and my teeth shifted, so I wanted to have the shifting fixed.
In my experience, my teeth have moved very quickly, but my ortho is being aggressive with my treatment as I want them off fast.
My orthodontic treatment is costing £2400.
I've had them on top for 14 months, and on the bottoms for 10 months.
I should be getting de-banded by July.
Everyone's treatment time is different though, so as elliemae says, you really need a consultation with an orthodontist to see what they think.
As for whether it's worth it - IMO it's the best thing I've done :)
I wore a fixed brace for 8 months last year - actually had a brace at my 30th birthday!!! Can't say it was a particularly nice experience, but I am so pleased with me lovely straight teeth!
I was very lucky and got mine done free on the NHS - still not entirely sure how I managed this and have never commented on it in case someone decides to send me a bill!
Best to speak to your dentist and get them to refer you if you're NHS.
Did you guys get the clear or the metal ones? My OH wants to get his teeth corrected but would prefer to go for the clear ones until he read somewhere you can't have anything that could stain them : coffee, curry, red wine etc.
