Make up lessons?
Question:

Make up lessons?
  Hello!
I've never posted in beauty before but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
I've never been very good at make up and a bit scared to try. Most days I put on a tiny bit of concealer and maybe some lip gloss and that's about it. If I go out, I might try some mascara!
Back in June I was a bridesmaid for one of my best friends and I was really impressed with the makeup that I had for the big day. It made me want to try wearing make up more but I don't really know what I'm doing or what suits me.
I'd like to get some advice from someone who knows what they're doing with products and 'technique' so I can be confident in putting make up on and wearing it more often.
I know you can have your makeup done at various beauty counters but have always shied away from that as it seems quite intimidating and then you are usually stuck with one product range. I am thinking of booking a 'lesson' with someone. What does anyone recommend?

I think wherever you have lessons you might feel pressured into buying products. I have a facial once a month and the girl who does that does tonnes of other treatments and make-up lessons, so perhaps you could try a beauty centre? Or why not get the no. of the girl who did your bridesmaid make-up to see if she would give you a lesson?
Makeovers at counters are oriented towards showing you the products and your buying them really. I have just posted about one I had at Chanel and it was fantastic. They had these huge mirrors with different kinds of lighting so you could always see what they were doing, and it covered everything from CTM, even eye moisturiser... to the make-up itself and even perfume! I didn't feel pressured to buy but I had a fab time (the boy was great) and I did buy some of the stuff he used that I didn't already have (lip liner and things like that as I tend to ignore my lips). If you could get something like that I think it is worth it (it was free, so only paid for products). I did ask tonnes of questions though, so you need to be prepared to do that if you're going to get something out of it.

Thank you for the reply!
It's a good idea to try a beauty centre. I would definitely have asked the lady who did my make up for the wedding but the wedding was in Italy and she is Italian. I really liked her though so it is a shame.
Will definitely consider the counter option. Your Chanel visit sounds amazing so I will have a think about doing something similar. Any brands that you think are particularly good? Obv apart from Chanel! (I feel like such a novice!)

Bobbi Brown and MAC are good. At MAC your pay £25, but if you buy any products you get that £25 taken off the cost (I hope that makes sense).
Space NK are also good as they have a range of different brands.

I was wondering about Space NK as there's one near work. I will check it out! Thanks!
