another spot thread!
Question:

another spot thread!
Sorry i know theres been millions of these, i rarely had spots as a teen, im now 24 and i wouldnt say i have awful spots, but its where i get them that i am wondering about, my skin is i would say combination, slightly shinier nose chin etc, but i get these most painful spots, in weird places, i seem to get alot of very sore ones on my jawline, or neck, on my cheek, even in my eyebrows, i was wondering does it sound like maybe its make up being trapped causeing spots? 9 times out of ten, theres nothing in these really painful bumps and can take a week plus to dissapear, i use freederm, but i think i might need something i put on my whole face, ( i also use an oil free moisturiser thats supposed to stop spots!)
any advice ladies??
Many Thanks
Nic x

Hello... Don't worry adult acne appears to be far more common than I thought, and I'm not sure I'm the best person to give advice since I suffer with it myself... however, it may pay off in the long run to visit your doctor now, rather than waste a load of money on 'miracle' products that don't do very much anyway.
Your GP has many options... it may even be something as simple as changing the pill you're on, for example.
On the otherhand, I haven't had much luck from my doctor (over the last 13 years) and now have been referred to a dermotologist (but of course have the obligatory 2 month wait). The problem is that my skin isn't bad enough for anyone to take it very seriously, but it is bad enough for it to effect my life in quite a major way... it appears that the people who fall into this gap don't have much success with their doctors unless they really push it.
To be honest, I'm now thinking that an uber healthy lifestle is the only way forward... :faint:

I would definitely recommend going to see your GP. I'm 31 and have had bad skin for years on my face and on my chest and back. I have been put on the pill and my skin has never been better.
It if is affecting your life then they are normally happy to help. It is usually a case of trial and error in finding something that works for you, but it is worth it when you find it.

Hi everyone!
I'm 24 years old and still had problems with my skin-for the past 3 months though my skins been perfect(apart from the slight scarring on my cheeks but a bit of clever concealing hides that!) Anyway i'd been in and out of the doctor's,she put me on the pill Cilest which worsened it or maybe i didn't take it for long,i'm now on anti-biotics and after nearly 3 months my skin is completely clear,i know the anti-biotics don't work forever but i'm also using Dermalogia products which has also made a massive difference! I suggest you go to your doctor's,there's sure to be something that your Dr can do for you. Good Luck!

jaw and chin spots tend to be hormonal, cheek spots have been linked to excessive drinking, eyebrows haven't a clue!
my personal recommendations for adult spots are
Dalacin T - from the doctor, topical lotion which is antibiotic and antibacterial and you just dab it on to every spot throughout the day or just before moisturiser
Evening Primrose Oil - 4,000mg-7,000mg a day for acne of any ages
Epsom Salts - use as a face rinse, or mix into cleanser
Pill - it might need to be changed, ask your doctor for advice
Rose oil and Rosewater - not Rose Hipseed but normal Rose is fantastic for reducing redness, moisturising and i beleive it has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, you can buy both from Neals Yard, or Decleor or even the chemist for Rosewater which you can spray throughout the day ont the face or use as a toner
Antibacterial wipes - this might sound daft but buy a pack of wipes and clean your phone (mobile, home and work), keyboards, doorhandles, glasses (if you wear them but also sunglasses), any anything else that you commonly touch.....you only need to do this once but then regularly i.e once a week clean your keyboard and phones to remove bacteria and germs which you pick up easily and then transfer to your face - i had huge boils around my chin and jaw where my phone used touch the skin when holding and vanished once i cleaned them down
Fingernails - make sure your fingernails are clean for the reasons above, i even keep some antibag hand gel on me and use because i constantly touch my face so dont want to transfer the germs - i am not saying all germs shouls be killed all the time as you need to have some level of germs to build up your immume system but just basic hygeine will reduce what you dont need being transferred to your face!
dont use products too harsh for your skin as it can aggrevate spots so keep skincare ncie and simple and gentle, but do use a face mask even if its only once a month just to give your skin a deep clean...i love Devinas Choice which was designed by a pharmacist specifically for acne and contains all sorts of essential oils including tea tree, plus is under a fiver and will arrive in less than a week - however only apply it to the spotty area and nowhere near the hairline or the eyes and not below the jawline www.preeventacne.com
