too old for brights?
Question:

too old for brights?
I really want to get into using more colour, but at 30 want to be able to look cool/funky/sexy rather than mutton/prostitute/horror. have been to a couple of the high street beauty counters and was advised that I would suit "spring" colours (*pinks/greens/etc*) as I have blonde hair and blue-green eyes with pink cheeks and a dusting of freckles too. fancy trying either bold eyes or bold lips - I normally just go with gloss and black eyliner but really want a change as I've had the same "look" for about 5 years and feel it's a bit "pah"
any one have any advice on how to play it at my age without looking like a complete dog?
guess what I'm asking is .....am I too old to do colour?:cmeek:

Nice to meet you Juggler!
No, I don't thing there's such a thing as 'too old for colours'! My teacher at uni is 40, but wears colour a lot and looks sophistcated/cool/funky :) It's just she doesn't wear bright pink lipstick AND pale blue eyeshadow AND suger-pink cheek-tint at the same time ;) (No offence for somebody who does!)
Judging from what you wrote, I wouldn't recommend matte red lipstick - I think too-strong colours like that will overwhilm your sweet face. How about sheer salmon pink or peach for lips? For eyes, something pearly/simmerly will be perfect (for colour, I recommend lilac). Plus, I think colour eyeliner (not black, olive green or grey) for upper lids will work well for a bit of changing image.
MAC does a lot of colours from funky to down-to-earth, and my friends in late 20s loves Bobbi Brown. I love The Body Shop's colours too, especially lipsticks.
Hope this helps, even a little :)

I love a lick of bright eyeshadow as a liner on the bottom lashes or a fat line on the top :)

Why not try turquiose eyes and peach lips? You could also try purple lipstick with pale brown eyes. The trick is to mix definition on either eyss or lips and not both at the same time. A little colour goes a long way.

Another fan of liners, i think sometimes full on bright eyeshadow can look too much on some people but a slick of bright liner on the lower lids or as a normal top lid liner can look gorgeous :great:
