Eye makeup for contact lens wearers?
Question:

Eye makeup for contact lens wearers?
Hey there lovely beauty forum people
I'm hoping somebody will be able to give me a bit of inspiration. I've just started wearing contact lenses, which means I've had to completely rethink the contents of my makeup bag. As I have very sensitive skin, I also need products that are hypoallergenic. Is there anybody out there who could recommend either mascara, cream eyeshadow, or anything else beauty-related and compatible with contact lens use?
I know there have been posts on this in the past, but there seems to have been a cull with the redesign and I'd really appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thank you :D

I have very sensitive skin too, and over the years it has took me a while to find certain brands of make up that don't irritate my skin-Personally I wear the same make up with my glasses or contact lenses. Have you tried your current make up with the lenses in yet?

Hi claire22
I'm a bit torn about this. I've actually had lenses since March, so I've been wearing them for a while, although I don't put them in every day. Whenever I've worn makeup and my lenses, I've had a lot of irritation. I had my eyes checked out by my optician, and the problem doesn't seem to be with my lenses, so that's why I'm - reluctantly - rethinking my makeup.
All the advice dished out seems to be that you should avoid powdery eyeshadows because of the particles, and lash-building mascaras because of the fibres. As I use both of these, that's why I'm thinking I ought to change.
Do you mind me asking what brands you use? At a pinch I can do without eyeshadow, but I don't know if I can live without mascara :cmeek:

hey! :D
the main items I am using atm:
avon-esp their clear mascara, they do some nice cheap single eyeshadows too
benefit-their foundation, mascara (called get bent-its brill!) eyeshadows and their concealors/highlighters
No 7-mainly eyeshadows
clinique-eye liner
I would agree that powder eyeshadows are tricky little beggars to put on without getting particles in your eye, practise, and practise some more on that one! I tried the liquid to powder eyeshadow things, but I don't like rubbing my lid much with my lenses in!
I still wear powder eyeshadows occasionally, but I make sure I blow excess off the brush before I begin applying. i use eyeshadows to line my eyes as well-this is tricky avoiding poking myself in the eye!!
I always wear mascara even if it's only clear! Canny do without that!
For work I don't often make a huge effort, I normally use benefits lemon aid (or a cheaper alternative No 7 eyeshadow base) over my eyelid to even it out, and then line the upper lid, bit of mascara and then some liner in the lower lid-I quite like white eyeliner lately, opens my eyes up a bit more! its by rimmel and doesn't irriate like some liners did!
thats my current look anyway!

I have worn contact lenses for 10 years and have never had a problem with irritation due to my make-up.
During the summer months, (or hot months now that global warming is on its way) all contact lens wearers suffer a little irritation. This is due to the pollen in the air, even though you might not suffer from hay fever.
I use powdery eyeshadow and dont have any trouble. However, you could do your make-up before putting in your contact lenses if you keep getting eyeshadow powder in your eyes.
No 7 also do a lovely range of mascara for sensitive eyes.
