Question:
Aqueous cream
Also posted in Health:
Someone on here very kindly recommended aqueous cream to me. My face has gone really sore again so I went to Boots pharmacy today to ask about it. The lady said you can use it as a facial and body moisturiser aswell as a wash. They only had big tubs in so I said I'd wait for the tubes to come in so as I can try it first. Does anyone use this as a facial cream and does it work aswell as other face creams (ie cosmetic ones)
Yep, I use it all the time! It's excellent and she's correct, it can be used as a facial and a body wash or moisturiser.
I've started to only use it at night time now, during the day I use Dermalogica skin smoothng cream.
It is very effective and you could add some essential oils too it if you liked.
A friend of mine did a massage therapy course and the lady who was teaching said this was the best moisturiser ever, she also said all these expensive comsetics are mostly a waste - acqueous cream does a better job. My doctor also told me the same thing. Unfortunately I'm a total cosmetics whore and cant give them up completely ;)
And best of all its really inexpensive...
Do you have very dry skin? Is it just your face?
Hi, thanks for your reply. I have dry skin all over and have ezcema. I normally use Simple facial wipes and Simple or Boots N07 moisturiser and use E45 wash cream in a morning. I am hearing both good and bad things about aqueous cream just now and don't know what to do. I love the cosmetic creams though as long as there is no scent in them but then they might have chemicals in that don't suit me.
I think there have been studies recently which show that aqueous cream can irritate ezcema in children - I think it's still recommended as a soap substitute though. I have quite sensitive skin and I use it for washing my face and it's fine.
To be honest, if you are going to try the aqueous cream, you may as well get a tub, I can't recall if it was Superdrug, but I got a huge tube for £2 and I don't think the tubes cost that much less, if you are suffering you may as well try it. I use it for everything - I mostly use it to wash my lady bits as they are very sensitive, but when my face is going through a senstive phase I use it on my face too. I think it is very good! I have heard that it does however contain some preservatives, and if you do find that it is not helping or just want something that will definitely not make things worse, you need the emolient stuff, similar to aqueous, but harder to wash with as it is hard and goes soft when mixed with water.
