Question:

Help! Your ultimate basics so I can find mine!
Hello there beauty bods, I need your wisdom!
I have scoured the product reviews here and on MUA and am probably all the more confused for it. I am looking to find my perfect:
1. Foundation
2. Mascara
3. Eyeliner
4. Concealer
and so need you to recommend your ultimate faves of these. Tiny catch: I can't spend TOO much, i.e. preferably no more than £15 per product, £20 at a push!
To give you an idea, I am 22 with very blonde (ash not golden) hair, blue eyes and, although I have naturally pale skin, I often fake tan so I am usually fairly bronzed. I get the odd spot and my pores around my nose could be smaller. I have combination skin so oily forehead but drier cheeks.
I currently use Maybelline WonderFinish which I like for its dewiness (not fond of unnatural matt) and liquid-to-powder formula, BUT it doesn't give a huge amount of coverage and it doesn't last long at all.
I'm using Rimmel's double wand mascara; it's ok for building up my lashes but isn't hugely natural looking. I think brown would look more natural with my blonde hair.
I use No.17 soft mink eyeliner, which is a good natural colour. But it smudges and fades so quickly and I often end up with very attractive racoon eyes. Is there anything longer-lasting, was thinking maybe a cake eyeliner?
I use No.17 concealer, which is nice and creamy but rubs off very easily and is crap for my under-eye area. Any suggestions for a better one?
Sorry about the essay length, not to mention the mammoth task! Any suggestions gratefully received!
Thanks xx

I love Urban Decy's Black Mascara, Skyscraper I think it's called - Tis fab, also Clinique's Lash Doubling is excellent too.
As for a concealer I use a No7 one, in a wand, it's a lot like the Clinique one, but half the price.

Ooh thanks for that, Inca! I've never tried any Urban Decay stuff, and will check out the No7 concealer: is it good at spot coverage?

Oh it's great, not that I have any since switching to Lush face stuff - But if I ever get one it's wonderful.
I actually use TBS compact 2 in 1 foundation, so it doesn't contain lots of oil. I usually use that and then dab on the concealer, and then put a thin layer of compact over it again - Works a treat :)

Here's mine :)
1. Foundation
*Armani Luminous silk - £25 Gives a gorgeous dewy finish and evens out uneven tone. Sounds a lot but my last bottle lasted 8 months!
*Era spray foundation - £40 for a big can but £20 for the smaller one on www.missgroovy.co.uk - Gives good coverage and doesn't budge at all
Revlon colourstay natural - £12 gives a nice dewy finish again. Not to be mistaken with the colourstay original which gives heavy coverage. I usually use this when/if i can't afford the others :)
2. Mascara
*Bourjois Pump up the volume - Around £7.99, gives volume and length pretty good for a cheaper mascara
*Diorshow - £17.50 separates and lengthens really well although not so good for volume. Looks natural in the fact that it doesn't clump but makes lashes ultra long and false lash like
3. Eyeliner
*For liquid i really like No 17's one, only £3.50ish and lasts all day
*I've only ever used MAC eyeliners really. The kohls do smudge but the other liners (forget the name sorry!) last fairly well. They are £8-£10, can't remember exact price.
4. Concealer
*The only thing i ever use now is MAC's studio finish concealer. It's £9.50 but a pot lasts me 2 years. Covers dark eyes and spots wonderfully, wouldn't be without it :)
