Facial oil - what proportions?
Question:

Facial oil - what proportions?
  Hi all,
It's been a while since I've posted on here but I hope someone can help me with this. I want to start using a facial oil at night but all the ones I've seen are either really, really pricey or mainly for dry or mature skin. I have combination skin and I thought I'd have a go at making my own. I've been thinking of using a base of either hazelnut or wheatgerm oil and then putting essential oils in. Does anyone know if these two oils are suitable for normal/combination skin and also what amount of essential oils should go in how much oil?
Thanks!
Emily

Answers:

Hazelnut is a bit astringent, so you'd be maybe better diluting this, and the same with the wheatgerm as its very sticky and heavy and smells rank! :p
I'd suggest a lighter base oil like apricot kernel or jojoba, and then add maybe 10% wheatgerm and the hazelnut...well a little more if you like as it can be used 100% (but I personally would dilute it)
Essential oils...well percentages depend on what books you read, they all seem to have a different opinion. For a 30ml bottle of base oil the minimum you want is 3-5 drops of essential oil. I personally think you can add more than this, but it depends how sensitive your skin is, what the oils are and what purpose its for.
Let me know if you need anymore info, I've got tons of resources for this sort of thing ;) :D
