Microplane Foot File - what am I doing wrong?
Question:

Microplane Foot File - what am I doing wrong?
  Hey girls
I recently purchased a Microplane Foot File after reading all the glowing reviews on here, expecting it to work miracles on my feet (which have quite a bit of hard skin on the heels especially after a summer of wearing flop-flops and ballet pumps without socks). But it doesn't seem to have made any difference at all! :( I've only used it 3 times, but it says on the front 'expect a miracle' so I did
Am I doing something wrong, or should I just persevere? Do you have to use it quite regularly before getting results?
Thanks :)

I noticed alot of improvement in the first time i used it. Scrap off the dead skin, put loads of intensive moisturizer on my feet, then put on cotton socks (done before bed).

Make sure you use it on completely dry feet, and in the same direction. I do mine over the bath so I can see how much skin is coming off - you might need to check to see if yours is removing any skin as it could be faulty.

I have super-hard skin on my feet & had used all sorts of things on my feet - skin planes, Diamancel, creams & ordinary foot files. None of them were as quick or effective as my Microplane. I can feel the skin building over a few weeks & using my Microplane actually gives me relief as soon as I've used it. BUT, it only takes the really bad stuff away - I'm afraid to go any deeper since I was a little too vigorous after the first few times & drew blood. Ouch! Mine's nearly 3 years old now & I think I'll need a new one soon - it's definitely getting blunter & requires a bit more time & elbow grease to get the original results.
However, I'm seriously considering buying Pedikur to try (even though I'm a bit more than a little wary about putting something containing industrial strength drain cleaner on my feet!). Despite loving my Microplane because it gets rid of the really rough, hard skin, it still leaves some hard skin behind (particularly on a spot at the top of my feet under the little toe). The skin there is rock hard & shiny, no matter how much I file. This is the part that gets painful when it needs filing. My heels aren't so bad. Microplane gets that almost soft (along with Flexitol applied religiously every night).
So, is your skin like mine - still hard & shiny even after a good grating session? If so, I think that's the best you'll get it.
I'll do a quick post to see if anyone has used both the Microplane & Pedikur & if the results are any different. Watch the threads for some replies (hopefully).

Thanks for the replies everyone :D I think I'll persevere and see if it gets any better through regular use then. Keropi - yes it is removing some skin, but only in a very 'fine dust' sort of thing - is this right? It's not removing a lot :( Do you think it could be faulty then?

Yeah, theres still a lot of hard skin on my heels (sorry for TMI  ) even after using it 3 times. I really hope thats not the best I'll get it, because I'm very disappointed after paying £25 :( I'll keep an eye out for replies on your other thread!
Thanks for the replies :D
