Hair removal
Question:

Hair removal
  Evening All!
Well my shaver is knackered and so I need to buy a replacement.
Shaving my legs is annoying, so I was wondering about epilators. How much do they hurt (I am a class one coward!)?
ANy recommendations gratefully received!

I'll be honest, the first time you use an epilator it's a bit terrifying! It's the noise more than anything-it sounds like a chainsaw:eek:
The first time it will smart. For some reason though the more you use it the less you feel it until it doesn't bother you at all. It just stops hurting after a bit, and it doesn't take at all long to stop hurting. I've been using one for about five years and usually do it whilst watching Eastenders and don't even watch what I'm doing most of the time.
The thing you must remember to do though is exfoliate two or three times a week as unlike waxing epilating does not remove the top layer of skin so you're prone to ingrowing hairs if you don't exfoilate regulary.

Most eplilators are good now. Don't bother with the ones with the attached ice packs, they cost more and IMO don't make any difference
Hope this is of some help

Hi
I agree that they do get less painful everytime you use one. I also use mine while watching TV!
I have one with an ice pack on it, but to be honest I never attach it; It's just extra hassle and doesn't make a difference.
Maybe if you're worried about pain you could take a painkiller about 20 mins before? Or a glass or 2 of wine! Then it won't be so scary the next time because you'll know you've done it before.
Anna :)
ps. I'm not advising that you get blind drunk beforehand, just a wee bit tipsy ;)

LOL it's not so bad you'll scream:D
I agree with annashaw a tipple may help the first time, not so you get blind drunk and epilate the carpet:p
I forgot to mention, don't have a hot bath, shower or moisturise before you epilate-it softens the hair and makes it harder for the tweezer things to grab.
The first time you do it it's best to let the hair grow a bit. It gives better results and lasts longer
