Just wondering does it hurt?
Short answer: Yes.
But obviously depending on your pain threshold, it'll be better / worse.
I wax my upper lip (& sometimes chin!) every week or fortnight, and looking less like a monkey is worth the brief pain!
I find that having my armpits or bikini waxed professionally is far worse than this. Having said that, I think there's a great deal to be said for being the one inflicting your own pain, IYSWIM.
If I am in control of my pain, I find it easier to deal with. But it's a matter of seconds. Grit your teeth and yank that wax strip!

PS I use Veet strips in a yellow box specifically for face / bikini touch-ups, I cut one strip in half, warm up one of the halves on the metal of the tap while running hot water, and peel the layers apart, then use one part for each side of my lip,then use the remaining cut half, warm that up and use it for the little cleft below my nose and any remaining bits I've missed.
Erm I don't know if I should but I epilate my top lip.

I used to use hair removal cream on my upper lip but have now started bleaching it instead using Jolen cream. It seems to last alot longer than having to remove every week or so
