Question about teeth correction
  HIya,
I have got a slight gap in my front middle tooth, kinda like maddona and my front teeth are slightly out and i would like to get some thing done to get rid of that.
I am not sure of the dental procedures and what it involves and before contacting dental sugeons i wanted to get your opinion on this, cos i dont want to be conned.
what do you think is the best thing to get rid of the gap and to push teeth back a bit, should i go for braces??
if yes how much do the braces cost? and can you recomend a good surgeon in Manchester?
Thankyou

To push your teeth back then you definitely do need to get a brace, i'm having this done too, just at the front, i think it's going to cost around £1,000, maybe more.
I'm in the West Midlands so not quite sure of the prices in Manchester, although it'll vary depending on what kind of brace you get. The best thing to do is ask your dentist, who will then refer you to an orthodontist, to then compare prices you can phone around a few places asking for a quote.
ETA: My sister had a full set of braces and they would have cost over £3,000 , luckily she was in full time education at that point, she now as perfectly straight teeth and had to wear the braces for around 18 months.

sadie,
I am also in full time education at the moment so does this mean i might get it done for free? and is it true that people on benefits can have it done free??
I juts want to have my front upper teeth done, not the bottom ones! and do you think the braces would also help fill the front gap?

You should be entitled to free treatment, people on benefits get it done for free too, as long as your dentist refers you, so that's saved you quite a bit of cash.
Sometimes you have to have braces on both the upper and lower set as this will match your bite, my sister didn't really need the bottom ones doing but the dentist insisted, although once you see your dentist they'll tell you the appropriate treatment.
I'm sure the brace will work to fill the gap in your teeth, check out the link below for more information:

Sadie's given you some great advice. Unfortunately noone on here could advise whether you do need a brace and if so, which type. Your best bet is to see your regular dentist who will refer you onto an orthodontist.
Remember, you need to have a history of good oral hygiene before they'd consider orthodontic treatment on you.
Hope it goes well. I had a brace on for 2 years when I was a teenager and now have perfectly straight teeth. It's definitely worth it.
