Question:
Weird toe nail query!!!
I have always had these weird thick toe nails but only on my little toe.
Some time ago I had a pedicure and within a few days the nail popped off and (as if by magic) I had a "normal" nail underneath.
Unfortunately the therapist is on maternity leave so I can't get hold of her. Does anyone know if there would have been something in the footbath water which would have sorted the nails out, or do you know what I could use?
All help appreciated as we are coming up to hol season I would like them to look as fab as possible!!
Hi hun,
When I do people's nails I've never had anything like this mentioned to me before...
however, it could be one of two things - the first being a fungal nail infection, making the nails on your little toes hard and thick. When you were having your pedicure, the technician may have used a footsoak with antibacterial properties in it, thus healing the toe-nail causing it to come off. When I do pedicure's I use this which you can buy from this site.
Alternatively, you could have banged/damaged your toe-nail (sometimes without realising) which would have caused a thick nail to grow, protecting the nail bed underneath. Sometimes these thick, protective nails can grow and grow and then suddenly come off, revealing a more "normal" and healthy nail underneath.
If you get a good foot soak, like the one above, or try Boots etc.... and give yourself regular pedicurs, this will keep your toe-nails nice and healthy.
Any more probs - let me know. Im happy to help :)

Thanks will try asking in Books, the link appeared to take me to some excercise equipment which I think the little toe would struggle with (laugh!!)

Same here
I've had mine all my life though and even tried cutting my whole nail off when I was a kid. Of course it grew back just the same. It's just my little toe nails too. Wierd huh!
At least it looks like yours were only temporary though :)
Pinklady ... a pic of a "toning system" pops up in your link
