I use Colour ID by Lancome. It's great, it adjusts to your skin tone!!!
If I can't find my exact shade (which is pretty hard as I'm very pale) I don't bother buying the foundation as it won't look natural. I always ask for a tester of new foundations so that I can wear it for a day to see if the colour changes by evening-time. The best colour match for me is in Estee Lauder foundations. Their range is brilliant.
Instead of going darker or lighter (before I found my HG foundation;) ) I used to go for the one that looked the most yellow!
I rarely wear foundation (I still buy them every now and again though :rolleyes: ) because it never looks natural enough for my liking. However, I'd rather go for a foundation that's lighter than the skin on my face, because my neck is lighter than my face! If I wear foundation that matches the skin colour on my face, it looks like I'm wearing too dark foundation :rolleyes: . I feel more confident without foundation, because I don't have to worry about whether it looks obvious or not.
