Question:
Fake tan rubbing off - what am I doing wrong?
Hi everyone
I've been using Dove Summer Glow for the last week and have built up a lovely colour and have been really happy with it. However, I was drying myself off after a shower yesterday and noticed the colour rubbing off around my wrists where I was rubbing with the towel...now I look all patchy and like I have some sort of skin condition. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I exfoliate and moisturise everyday but my sister said that its maybe because I've put too much tan on. I have been applying it every evening - could this be the problem? Would it be better just to apply it every 2nd or 3rd day? Also, is there any way to disguise my patchy bits - I'm tempted to go and cover it with more tan to see it it will blend in but I don't want to make it worse!!
Thanks guys xx
How often do you exfoliate? It sounds like you might have to do it more.
If it's coming off easily on your towel in may mean your dead skin sells are 'loose'.
If you don't exfoliate every day have you thought about getting some scrub mitts and lightly doing it every day with shower gel :)
Yes I agree with CiC, it sounds like you need to exfoliate a bit more. This happens to me when my skin is a bit dry, especially on the tops of my arms, my stomach and ankles. Now I have some of those exfoliating gloves which I use in the shower. They are really effective and make your skin smooth and soft.
Hope you sort it out! :) Isn't fake tan a pain, IF ONLY the sun was safe, I'd be on a sunbed every week!
Thanks girls. I exfoliate every couple of days with those gloves you can use in the shower - I was scared if I did it everyday then I would rub my tan off. I'll start doing it everyday though and see how that helps. Miss mascara, you are so right! I often think how much less time I would spend on my beauty routine if only I lived in a sunny country - no need to tan my body or face or highlight my hair...mmmm (Ayla drifts off to daydream about emigrating to The Caribbean....)
Oh if only! Or if only the sun wasn't damaging to the skin so we could sit out in it!
I sometimes have the same problem with my tan in areas i've let get too dry or even areas where you sweat, like the inner creases of elbows
