Question:
Summer and cold sores
Hey guys, just thought id ask for abit of advice. I rarely get cold sores, but do tend to suffer more during the summer. I have one at the moment, and am treating it with zovorax which is great but id much rather prevent them in the first place.
Do any of you have any recs about a nice lip balm/ gloss with sun filters? Or any other way to prevent this problem without wearing a bag over my head?

If you think they are caused by the sun then I guess wearing sunblock would help. Lots of the companies that make sun block also do lip balms with spf. Personally, I've no idea what sets mine off and nothing prevents them apart from trying to catch them really early with the zovirax. I sympathise, I really do.
I got 2 last week, and I haven't had them for years. I put ice on them, then Zovirax, then keep clean with witch hazel and then ice, and so on.
I had a search in health and Lysine tablets were recommended as a way to prevent them.
I did buy some Soltan lipbalm with SPF 25, to prevent them from coming back. It doesn't have any colour though, but you could always put some gloss over it :)
They are horrible things arnt they!! I work for the company that makes zovirax, so get it at a massive discount which is one good thing i guess! Im sure its the sun, as last year i tried a sunbed once and got one straight after. Think i will have a look in boots for some sun block and those lysine tablets you mentioned keropi!
