manicures and pedicures
Question:

manicures and pedicures
having never had either before I want some advice please! My cousin's fiancee recently had her nails done for the first time and they are really nice, she says they are gel? And they are all shiney and clear with white tips. I got a price list today, am confused about what they are...
1) Full set of tips or sculptured with french or natural finish in NSI acrylic, calgel or fibreglass
(to me calgel is what I put on my son's gums to stop him teething!)
2) natural nail overlays NSI acrylic or calgel
And then what are infils and what are backfils?
Pedicure - I'd rather sort my feet out myself (they are ming) so can anyone reccomend any good feet products out there to make them all soft and nice?

Answers:

I can't help with the manicure but for your feet
- get a foot file and slough off any hard skin
- scrub with a foot scrub (or any harsh body scrub)
- slap on some rich body cream/butter and put on socks overnight
- paint your toenails

This means they will use these 3 systems to extend your nails (Calgel is a brand of acrylic gel)

The same as above only they just paint a thin layer over your nails for extra strength. You can get coloured gel overlays which are like permenant nail polish

These are the maintenance appointments to keep your nails looking good. you should have these appointments every 2-3 weeks. If you keep these up you can wear them for years.

I would recommend investing in:
a Microplane footfile (do a search there have been loads of threads about it recently),
Scholl Rough Skin remover (which is a scrub for feet - best one I've ever tried),
a really good rich foot cream - loads of baggers have been raving about a Boots one lately but I can't remember which one it is,
Flexitol Heel Balm - amazing stuff,
a nice polish for your toes - I'm in love with MAC Spicemix at the moment.

Another silly question - how often should you do the whole pedicure routine?
