Question:
Bodybrushing - ow!
I have recently bought a dry body brush - an Elemis one that was recommended as a good one by several mags - and it's leaving scratch marks on my things and upper arms!
:(
Has anyone else had this happen?
And for all those that do use a body brush, I'd be grateful if you could tell me how hard you press and do you always do your whole body?
Thanks all!
Hi  I body brush every day (just use a boots brush) and have done for years now, sounds to me like you're doing it too hard as it shouldn't hurt/scratch - you need to be particularly gentle on your chest. I brush my legs, arms, chest and stomach - don't do my back as too much hassle!
Am a huge fan of body brushing, my skin is so much softer and I generally get very few colds and stuff (apparently it stimulates your lymph system). I definitely felt an improvement after I started and just couldn't not do it now. Just try and do it with gentler sweeps and you should find it's ok :)
sounds like you're doing it a bit hard, like smartiecat says, although when I first did it I also found it scratchy and a bit painful. With me it passed after a while, and know I really enjoy the feeling!!
I think CIC used just one of the exfoliating gloves to body brush, which should give the same effect, but without the scratching?
I really enjoy the feeling!!
me too - it's kind of tingley. I barely use body lotion these days if i dry body brush as it seems to leave my skin so nice and soft (oh and I drink gallons and gallons of water all day long which also helps).
It shouldn't leave scratches honey, I think there is a temptation to over do it the first couple of times but you'll get it right next time. I read that you are meant to sweep towards your heart - could be nonsense but I've always done it that way just in case...
don't give up on it - it keeps my skin really smooth and REALLY wakes it up of a morning
Thanks everyone. I'm going to try and do it LIGHTLY this morning!! Two more questions - do you do it in long sweeping strokes and do you do it if you're not then going to jump in the shower?
