Question:
Hands up..
..who thought they would 'grow out' of their spots, they were a typical teenage angst?
Well, I sure did!
I have never been plagued with serious acne, but it has been bad enough to try both topical and oral antibiotics and various pills - and yet still I get these huge cystic type spots a couple of times a month, which always scar and leaves me with horrible redness.
However, this summer, I have decided things are going to change ;) I've now turned 21, so given the 'teenage' spots well over a years grace to leave me alone, and I think its time for drastic action.
I think my skin care regime actually helps a lot, but its more my hormones which are the trouble. I take Yasmin, which helps a lot, but not quite enough. Has anyone tried Boots feel the difference monthly cycle vitamins? Do they seem worth it?
Also, in addition to a supplement, I'll be drastically ;) improving my diet, and want to treat myself to a monthly facial. Can anyone recommend a good facial type for dry, but problem skin?
Sorry for the essay :faint: just so fed up with it and want to see an improvement!!

I have to say I didnt realise how lucky I was when I was in my teenage years. I very rarely got spots but now Im 25 Im getting them more often, they are like red inflamed bumps that take ages to go!! I cant understand it really because I didnt even moisturise when I was younger. It was only until after I finished uni that I started a proper cleanse, tone and moisturise rountine. It might be because I wear more makeup now but then again I dont wear foundation or anything, just a bit of blush or bronzer. Ive also cut done on take outs and Ive started drinking more water. I just dab lavender oil on them at night. I have noticed that my skin looks so much better when I actually remember to take my vitamins! I take cod liver oil with evening primrose oil and I also take vitamins C and E. Im terrible at getting my 5 portions of fruit and veg a day so I rely on vitamins.

I haven't used it ohara, but there's a thread on it in Health, not that that'll be much use I dont# think.
I too get one or 2 huge mo-fo spots a month, but since starting taking zinc they've calmed down a heck of a lot - :great:
Hi ohara. Yes, I thought I'd never grow out of my spots. I had them on my forehead and on my back until I was about 21/22 or something. I used to never wear vest tops because I was so embarassed about my back. Now my skin is really good and I hardly ever get spots.
I don't really know if I grew out of them or if it's to do with the pill and skin care as well. When I was a teenager, I was on dianette and antibiotics and neither made any difference. I've changed pill a fair few times so couldn't really say which I was on at the time my skin cleared up. However, I use the Philosophy Purity cleanser and I've found that's made my skin really nice. I wouldn't change to another face wash.
thanks :) maybe I'll just stick with trying EPO and Zinc?
Can anyone recommend any facials?
