Question:
HELP please. Facial waxing worry.
:( i had my face waxed this morning. but the beauty therapist didn't wax inwards towards my cheeks because i have open pores and i am prone to spots and because it was my first time she thought she'd leave it. She did my jawline and my sides near the sideburns. it was really pink, but now that it's gone down i can see marks of the wax strips on the side. it's like new skin but shaped in steps and doesn't blend into the rest of my face. Can anyone please tell me that these will fade in a couple of days? or anyway to make them go away? i have already washed my face and even tried applying foundation and face powder but nothing seems to go over it or cover it up. it stays a different shade and texture. PLEASE HELP ME
thank you x
do you mean that you can still see the border of where it has and hasn't been waxed?
I don't know what to suggest really if that is it :(
You MUST NOT put anything on a waxed area for 24 hours. No makeup, perfume, product of any kind, deodorant, etc. Many things contain alcohol and some people have got burns. Nor should you go swimming, sunbathe, have heat treatments - sun bed, massage (for the affected area), you should not touch area either as fingers can transfer bacteria to area.
She should have told you that as it is part of the standard aftercare. If she hasn't you should complain. (I'd make this bold and put it in red but can't figure out how to do it). You coud cause serious damage to the skin.
It is possible that the top layer of skin has been removed but without seeing it it is difficult to know.
I think the best thing to use is a cold water compress. Many people suggest aloe vera gel or lavender gel to cool area. Should not take a couple of days.
It might well be worth you getting out to a chemist this evening and getting them to look at it and recommend something for you.
The wax should have been applied in the direction of the hair growth and removed against it and very tight against the skin. It's a bit of an art. She should also have held the skin at various points (you don't want to suffer sagging later so this is very important). Can you remember if she did those things?
Was it your first time? Might take a little getting used to as skin is sensitive but you shouldn't have to hide in the house for a couple of days after a treatment. Shoud be something you can go back to work after.

yes that's exactly it :( and it's really bad because it isn't even a straight border. i have zigzag lines on the side of my face. the waxed side is soft and light while the rest of my face is slightly darker. i paid £18.50 at mark betts. not sure if they're just a northern hair dresser/salon but they're not cheap and are supposed to be experienced. the lady knew it was my first time and didn't even explain what would happen to my face afterwards or anything else in terms of after care. Nor did she advise me on how far in she'd have to wax my face. i would have thought she'd have told me she'd have to wax in towards my cheeks otherwise i'd get wax lines?
i don't know what to do. i'm hoping it'll blend in tomorrow but i'm not sure it will. and i'm too scared to go back to have her fix it because she messed it up already :(
Get someone to take a couple of photos in case you decide to go back.
Might be worth writing a letter to manager saying what's happened, and saying no aftercare. Their insurance company requires they give aftercare advice
I live Essex never heard of Mark Betts although most salons are small companies with poss a 3-4 in a chain at most
Cold compess is worth a try.
