Question:
Jacuzzi/Sauna (also in fitness)
Hi,
Not quite sure where this belongs sorry! I've got free access to a jacuzzi and sauna for the next week :) , was wondering what benefits there are from saunas?
I've been told not to stay in there for more than 10 mins (i'm not used to them at all). Does this seem right?
And, well it's a long shot, but it doesn't help with cellulite by any chance does it??
;)
Thanks

To use the sauna, have a shower beforehand and then go in and sit as long as you feel comfortable (you should feel hot, and sweaty if it's a dry (as opposed to steam) sauna), then go out and have a cold shower or hop into a cool swimming pool, then go back into the sauna. Repeat a couple of times, ending with a shower, and you'll feel brilly & be left with glowing skin. I wouldn't worry about timing it - you'll feel when you've had enough and they aren't that hot. Be sure to do a cool/cold shower in between though, and go straight back into the sauna without drying yourself off.
Jacuzzis are normally warm, so wouldn't go from hot sauna to warm jacuzzi and back, that sounds pretty unpleasant. It's the contrast between hot & cold that makes you feel so good after a sauna session.
As for benefits.. ehr, relaxation? and a glowing skin & general feeling of wellbeing afterwards! DUnno about anything else! :)
I doubt very much that it would help with cellulite, unfortunately...
