Question:
Facial Oils
I've recently been seeing a lot of threads about these and decleor.
What do they do, are they expensive, and are they worth the money?
Hi Fluffybunny,
As they're oils they're absorbed deeper into the skin and can treat the skin with the essential oils that are absorbed. The carrier oil for example jojoba, sweet almond etc contain lots of valuable skin ingredients such as vitamins antioxidants and fatty acids. Facial oils are usually a blend of essential oils in a base blend of carrier oils. Essential oils are very potent so almost always have to be mixed with a carrier oil before being applied to the skin.
Oils are good as a booster under your moisturiser or on their own if that's all you need.
Certain oils such as rosehip (carrier) are good for scarring and pigmentation. Each oil both carrier and essential will have it's own unique properties and it's the art of blending by the aromatherapist that results in the final oil. Usually these are aimed at particular skin types or skin concerns.
I love facial oils and have the neroli and rose one by decleor which are gorgeous. They're very expensive though and you can get cheaper ones without the fancy packageing :)
Neals Yard do a good one and Waterbaby is a professional aromatherapist who does her own blends. I would highly recommend her :yay: just give her a pm.
If you post on the natural forum you'll get more recommendations as lots of the girls there use them.
I think they're especially good for using at night. Like rebelgirl says, they are absorbed more deeply into the skin.
I used Bio Oil fo ages but I've gone off it a bit now.
My current favourite is Barefoot Organics rosehip oil which smells divine and makes your skin really really soft.
I rate decleor's ylang ylang oil, its great at reducing my oily skin in the summer.
I use the oil in the day under my moisuriser and then a balm at night.
decleor are good at giving out generous samples so why don't you try them out?
neals yards rose oil is just as good as the decleor but only a tenner and a bigger bottle
but it means i just splash it around so still costs me the same!!
rose is fab for sensitive or spotty skin as it reduces the redness and re-balances the skin - plus if u have normal to oily skin u wont need a moisturiser on top
