Greasy skin...help!
Question:

Greasy skin...help!
  Hi all
I have a real problem with oily skin and I'm very resentful of the fact seeing as I'm 29 not 15!!
I've tried most of the usual oil control products but nothing seems to work....I put my make up on in the morning (have tried many of the supposed matifying ones!) but it's still like an oil slick again within a few hours!
If anyone can recommend any products, techniqies or anything that would help, it would be most appreciated.
Ta lots

Hi Miss_Guided,
Maybe the oil control products are actually making the problem worse? In my experience they usually don't help much and can aggravate your skin, plus if its oily because its dehydrated then they just dry it out further!
I think a lot of it is hormonal - are you on the pill/have you tried it? It might be worth seeing a doc about one suited to oily skin. I posted on another thread about diet too...it's important to feed your body oil, as odd as it sounds. I believe it actually helps your skin in the long run. So stock up on oily fish (2-3 portions a week), olive oil for cooking and nuts/seeds for snacking. Plus drink lots of water and don't give your body too much sugar or refined food.
I've also found Lush Imperialis moisturiser and tea tree water are nice for treating it too :)

OC8 is a good product http://www.oc8.co.uk/ - it does really work. I wear it on my T-Zone if I know it's going to be a long day e.g. if I'm going out straight after work. I also apply (loose) powder every morning otherwise I'll be shining like a beacon within 10 minutes.

I've got oily skin and found it improved a lot when I started using very gentle creamy cleansers. I can also recommend the L'Oreal microdermabrasion kit and the Boots Botanics clay mask. I use both once a week and for some reason they do help keep the oiliness under control.

Thanks guys, there's some great tips there.
As for the hormonal theory, I am on the pill (Marvelon at the moment) but the docs are very reluctant to change my pill because there's a strong family history of heart disease and they reckon I shouldn't be on the combined pill at all!
I tried the injection but felt stressed/emotional/suicidal for the 3 months it took to get out of my system!
I think maybe I should drink more water and watch what I eat a bit more so will definitely try that and see how it goes!
