Question:
Fed up of spots
I'm 20 and my skin is worse now. than when I was a teenager. I keep getting pretty big spots around the bottom and sides of my nose in particular and a couple now and again on my chin and between my nose and top lip. It's really getting me down, I have the skin of like a 14 year old. I have tried all kinds of stuff on my face. Most recently bought Lush stuff to see if natural things would be better but no. I am currently using dove soap.
I have used alsorts to try and clear spots when they come too, but nothing works that well, I've tried sudocrem, quinoderm, freederm, tee tree oil, even germolene and alsorts of gimmicky things that claim to clear them, but nothing does.
My friend got Zynert (i think) off the doctor and says is pretty good. Is it worth going to the doctors? I have literally tried everything!!
I can speak from experience and say that going to the doctors is certainly worth trying.
A doctor will generally try facial lotions first and perhaps the pill if you think the spots are related to your cycle. And then if these aren't successful the doctor will probably try antibiotics. If antibiotics dont work (and there are several types) then your doctor can refer you to a dermotologist who can perscribe stronger stuff, but this may not even be neccessary.
Whatever medication you are given it is worth giving it a fair trial (I think you have to give the lotions a 6 week trial before they will move you on to anything else). I know it sounds like a long drawn out process but believe me, I've been there myself and its the only thing that worked for me. I must have spent 100's and 100's on products that didnt work and it was soul destroying!!
Hope that helps!
Definately go to the doctors. I'm 22 and have suffered from quite bad spots for years. I went to the doctors when I was about 17 and he put me on antibiotics which worked a treat! My skin was so clear and it really boosted my confidence.
However after a while I changed from the antibiotics to the pill called dianette which for me was also really effective. The doctor took me off this pill after about 18 months as apparently you can't be on it for too long (not exactly sure why) and now (apart from the odd spot here and there depending on what time of the month it is) my skin is pretty good!
So I'd definately recommend going to see your doctor, they will be able to find something that works for you. Good Luck!
yeah go to the doctors, i also suffer too - spots appear on my chin every single month!
didnt want to try antibiotics as was afraid it would mess up my pill's effectiveness.
ive tried freederm - ok but not as brilliant as i thought it would be,
benzoyl - dries spots out, use too much and skin becomes flaky
zineryt - the best, but using it for a long time seems to reduce its effectiveness, like the second bottle of mine didnt work as well as the first.
lately ive jst been leaving my skin to breathe and ive noticed a big difference.
I would recommend zineryt
Thank you for your replies, I am going to go the doctors in the week so hopefully I'll find something that will work!
Thanks :)
