Organic or natural shower gel
Question:

Organic or natural shower gel
Can anybody recommend an organic or, failing that, "natural" shower gel that's not too expensive?
I use Aveda shampoo & conditioner, but I wanted to try something a bit cheaper than that if possible.
Oh, and if it's something I can buy online (ebay would be fine) even better !!
Thanks all!

ETA: My skin is really dry so something moisturising as well as cleansing would be ideal

I rotate between Dr Bronner Lavender castille liquid soap (organic, natural, cheap and moisturising!) and Simply Soaps body shampoos (natural, cheap, refreshing) for my everyday staples, which I get from www.pureskincare.co.uk. When I am feeling in need of pampering Aubrey Organics rosa mosqueta gel is lovely (doesn't really lather like a normal shower gel so can be rather strange at first - but very moisturising and smells very girly), or REN's moroccan rose body wash - totally divine but you may need to consult your bank manager before buying this one. REN is available at http://www.renskincare.com/
All my recs are natural (no horrible sulphates or preservatives) and I know that Dr B is organic; not sure about the others though.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much Sarah, that's great. I was looking at the Aubrey one on http://www.healthydiet-shop.co.uk but it's cheaper on the site you've given. I always use one of those foaming puff-things to put the shower gel on, do you think it would work with one of these?
I was wondering about soap as I normally find it drying. Do natural soaps dry the skin out like normal ones? And if they don't, do they, well, cleanse properly?
I think 5 or 6 pounds is pretty reasonable, especially for the Dr. B one, as that's all organic as far as I can see.

I am not sure really, as I think it feels like a totally different way of washing, as it is more like using a cleansing oil than a lathering gel. When you apply it to the skin it sort of glides on a bit like a moisturiser which you then wash off. There aren't really any bubbles generated so I don't think the puff would make much of a difference. I suppose it is down to personal preference (my mate just can't get used to the fact that it doesnt foam). I like using it but it is very different to conventional shower gels, but I think worth it for the soft skin afterwards! I think it is a bit like marmite! You will either love it or hate it!!

I have had not problems with natural soaps and dryness at all. In fact since swapping from normal shower gels and bubble baths to natural, my skin is soft and feels not at all tight. I used to have horrible dry scaley skin on my skins every winter but have just realised that I haven't this year :) The Dr B soap contains organic oils so I think those end up moisturising the skin as well as cleansing. I stick the soap in my hand soap dispensing pump and use it as a hand wash in the bathroom and kitchen - no problems cleaning wise and v soft hands (very rarely remember to use hand cream!), so don't think you need to worry about them not cleansing! The Dr B bottle also says you can use it as a shampoo and toothpaste but I have not been that brave!!
I did just put a post about a black liquid soap I found on the akamuti website. Sounds like it could be promising, but haven't actually used it myself as yet; but feel that I could be tempted this afternoon!
Hope this helps chick

Thanks so much Sarah, that's all a great help. I use olive oil and water to wash my face with anyway so I don't know why I am so dubious about soaps with oils in them. It's the same thing really, isn't it?
I'll probably try the Dr. B one as it's a really good price and all organic. Thanks very much for the recommendation. I'll probably just use it for my skin, but it's good to know that it can be used as toothpaste, in case of emergencies
Let us know if you try the black soap, it sounds very unusual!!
Thanks again for all your help and for typing all that out!!
