Question:
Hair removal techniques
I've got hypersensitive skin...and as a result am allergic to most hair removal creams esp Immac, and can only shave my legs once every 2 or 3 weeks and waxing briought me out in a rash lasting months the one time I tried it. I can't afford laser removal yet either! Does anyone know any methods or products that might work? Am getting desperate!
Have you tried sugaring? Although the technique is similar to waxing, it's natural so you may not react to it and doesn't cling to your skin as badly as wax does so it's a bit less painful. You can either buy it from Boots or TBS, or make it yourself at home.
I second the rec for sugaring. I also have hypersensitive skin (& eczema) and use MOOM hair remover. As it is made with natural ingredients it doesn't irritate me at all, and even leaves my skin nice and soft. (Make sure to apply some baby/talcum powder to your skin beforehand so the wax sticks to the hairs and not the skin + exfoliate afterwards to prevent ingrowing hairs). To get a smoother finish, I epilate after sugaring with no probs.

Thanks, I'll buy some Moom! Do you find epilating painful?

I've been waxing/sugaring for years so have gotten used to having hairs pulled from the root, so don't notice the pain much. It depends on your pain threshold really. But you'll never know until you try it. And epilating is not as scary as it looks, its just really fast tweezing, that doesn't come into contact with your skin.
Hope Moom works for you :)
