bit of a ramble but please please help!!!
hi i was wondering if you all could help me, i HAD really oily spotty skin till a few weeks ago and bang it is painfully dry and red, inflammed and underlying red spots or lumps (kind bite ish or heat lumps!?!) that are itchy and on my jaw line also my forehead is dry and sore and real hot to the touch kinda like mild sunburn (i am so pale and dont recal last time i so much as saw the sun lol!! and i never go on sunbeds!) the moisturiser i use (dermalogica active moist) is doing nothing and i have resorted to E45 lotion which my skin slurps up! i have been using special cleansing gel (dermalogica) and multi active toner so all 'good' make and compiment each other but what has happened and how do i make it better??
anyone any ideas ?
i have started swimming recently if that perhaps would do anything the chlorine and all!?! but i also go in steam room
i think i have just had horrid allergic reations to it all now and need to get sensitive stuff but most dont 'do' anything can anyone recommend anything pretty pretty please!!!!!!

This might sound a bit far fetched, but maybe your skin is underlyingly dry and you were using products that were a bit too harsh and that's why it became oily? In which case the dermalogica cleansing gel would be far too drying, and this is what you're seeing now.
This is exactly what happened to me, I thought my skin was oily but I've worked out that it produced loads of extra oil because it was dry but being treated as oily. I couldn't use any of the dermalogica products you said you have, my skin became really dry after just a couple of uses.
I think you need to go back to basics, it sounds like your skin is really confused - how about drying Simple, or Boots Skin Kindly? There's also Johnson's ph5.5, but I found that quite drying. If you fancy a creamy wash Nivea do a lovely one, good for dry skin and hasn't given me any spots.
Hope you find this of some use and that your skin gets better!

Sounds like it could be a combination of things, like Bunnekins said the products you are using may be so underlyingly harsh they are actually stripping the moisture from your skin. Have a look to see if the toner you are using has alcohol in - this is renowned for its stripping properties.
Also the chlorine maybe having an effect on your skin too. Any chance you could hold off on the swimming to see if it has any effect?
Hope you get it sorted asap - let us know how its going.
